Description: Demodectic mange, Cheyletiella mange, Sarcoptic mange are parasitic infections of the skin caused by one of three mite species. The mite causing demodectic mange is not visible to the naked eye. The mite lives in hair follicles and seldom cause a problem, unless the dog's immune system becomes compromised. Cheyletiella mange is often referred to as walking dandruff because the mites produce a coat resembling a dandruff look.
Contributing factors: Demodectic, Cheyletiella or Sarcoptic mange mites, compromised immune system.
