Sometimes the immune system malfunctions (autoimmune disease) causing the immune system to attack itself. Autoimmune disease can attack connective tissue, nerves, muscles, digestive tract, hormones, etc. A wide variety of diseases come under the umbrella of autoimmune disease. Some of these diseases are: Rheumatoid arthritis, Lupus , Multiple sclerosis, Graves’ disease and others.

Contributing factors:When the body discovers a foreign invader inside, it mounts an immune defence. The problem with this immune defence is that the body occasionally mistakes parts of itself as the enemy and attacks itself. Factors that contribute to autoimmune disease are: genetic, various antibiotics and other medications, environmental pollutants and contaminants, especially coupled with stress. Autoimmune disorders in pets vary from breed to breed but all are susceptible to them.

Herbal Treatment:Some herbs that may form part of a formula are: Ashwaganda increases red and white blood cells which gives the immune system a boost. Burdock Root acts as a blood cleanser. Pau D'arco helps to boost the immune system.
